General Guidelines
Flyway considers unsolicited fiction, nonfiction, and poetry submissions. We are particularly interested in pieces that delve into the environment or human place, but submissions of any subject will be considered.
We occasionally consider artwork. Please query before submitting. Any unsolicited artwork will be rejected automatically. Artwork must come to us in a *.TIF file, at least 600 dpi.
Please note that we are a voluntary, unpaid staff. We try to get back to all authors as quickly as possible, but submissions made between May 1 and May 30 (our submission deadline) will probably not be read until September. If you have not heard from us after 4 months, please query.
We accept simultaneous submissions. Please let us know immediately if the work is accepted elsewhere.
Until we have responded, please do not submit more than:
*1 short story (1000 to 5000 words)
OR
*Personal essay (1000-7000 words)
OR
*3 short-shorts (up to 1000 words each; please specify fiction or nonfiction)
OR
*5 poems
We occasionally accept high quality novellas. Please query before submitting novellas or longer short stories.
Payment: 1 complimentary copy of the issue your work appears in.

We would like to see some experimentation with form, but this is not required. Please do not send us epic poetry.
